Professional Bio
Richard is a former Olympian, World Championship player and captain of the Australian water polo team. He holds a Bachelor of Physical Education, a Graduate Diploma in Education and a Bachelor of Divinity. He was ordained as an Anglican deacon in 1992 and priest in 1994. His career has included being a Physical Education teacher; Chaplain of Hale School, St George’s College UWA, King’s College Taunton, and the WA Institute of Sport; Rector of St Nicolas’ Carine-Duncraig; Assistant Chaplain and Director of Service Learning and Leadership at Christ Church Grammar School; Associate Professor of Sports Science at UWA (now an Adjunct Lecturer); Sub-dean Community at UWA; sports commentator for the ABC and Channel 7; host, presenter and advisor to the Positive Schools Mental Health and Wellbeing conferences Australia wide; social commentator on 6PR radio; sports coach; Chair of True Blue Dreaming and Special Olympics WA; Dean of St George’s Cathedral and currently Chaplain of St Mary’s Anglican Girls School.
